Should businesses be required to have women on their board of directors?

In December 2014, the German government announced a new rule which would require German companies to fill 30% of their board seats with women. In Italy female board places increased from 8.2% to 22.1% after the government introduced gender diversity laws. In Norway 35.5% of boards contain women directors which is the highest percentage in the world.

No, board members should be the most qualified regardless the gender. However, Italy should offer state incentives to businesses which choose a qualified woman instead of a qualified man.
